The Ministry of Economy revealed the withdrawal of 656 thousand and 34 defective items from the state markets during the past year, an increase of 65%, compared to 2017, noting that the goods withdrawn include food and consumer products.

In the recovery report issued yesterday, the ministry said that the withdrawal and recall cases in 2018 included 12 sectors, including three new sectors from which to withdraw goods for the first time, indicating that the new sectors included frozen vegetables, biscuits and extendable tables, while the other nine sectors included cars and motorcycles Baby milk, electric boilers, car tires, strollers, electric lamps, clothes and shoes.

It added that withdrawals and withdrawals took place last year from electronics and phones, for the first time since the start of recovery operations several years ago.

According to the «Economy» report, 571,690 vehicles of different models were withdrawn, representing 87.1% of total withdrawals and withdrawals, 6,522 bicycles and 77,822 other miscellaneous goods, in cooperation with the country's agents and authorities.

The Director of Consumer Protection Department at the Ministry of Economy, Dr. Hashim Al Nuaimi, said that the recall operations are aimed at protecting the health and safety of consumers in the country and reducing fraud and disinformation.

He added that the ministry is tracking the recovery of food and consumer goods on a daily basis through various websites and media, and communicate with producers abroad.
