Samsung Electronics has unveiled details of the display of FolderBoard display at the Samsung Developer Conference (SDC) 2018 in San Francisco on July 7.

At the session "Is your app ready for the folder bubble" session at the Samsung Electronics' wireless business division, Samsung Electronics said that the cover display will be 4.58 inches when folded, and the main display will be 7.3 inches. I did.

The fold-up folder is a fold-in folded inside with two smart phones on both sides.

The cover display has an aspect ratio of 21 to 9, the main display is 4.2 to 3, and the resolution is 420 dpi for both displays.

Other specifications such as batteries and release dates were not disclosed.

"The cover display is a bit smaller than the smartphone display, but it has all the features of the app available on the main display," says Park. "We can get notifications, make calls and messages easy to use."

The main display supports 'Multi-Windows' so that one application can be used in full screen, or it can be used in two or three, so it is optimized for 'multitasking'.

For example, you can watch YouTube on the left full screen and split the right screen into two so you can use text messages and your Internet browser at the same time.

Adrian Ruth, Google senior software development engineer, said, "Current Android pie allows simultaneous apps to run on multi-Windows if the manufacturer and application agree," concurrently running Android Q on the next operating system will be a prerequisite. "

"Users are going to launch their phones to dig deeper into what they're using on their smartphones," Ruth said. "We're trying to keep the apps running smoothly when folded and unfolded."

For example, if you are using a map application, you can find more information about where you want to go when you fold, and you can expand your screen to recommend other places.

Flipboard, a news-curating company, also demonstrated the application environment when folded and unfolded during this session.

Samsung Electronics and Google will release their application development guidelines at 7 pm, allowing developers to participate in the initial folderable application development, and release the emulator (a device designed to copy device characteristics or run the same) in the fourth quarter.
